Drawing 122: Little Narrowcove, Scafell Pike
Direction of view: W
Notes: The waterfall in the foreground is very obvious just as you reach Little Narrowcove.
This view is also a Lakeland Mountain Drawing (449), and appears on page 34 of Wainwright in Lakeland, page 80 of Fellwalking with a Camera, and on page Scafell Pike 11 in The Southern Fells. This sketch is a very accurate representation of Wainwright’s photograph, and the mountain drawing shows exactly the same scene.
Comments: I took this picture on 18th October 2018. I had ascended from Eskdale the previous afternoon, and camped overnight in this magical place. It was a cold night, with fantastic stars, but my sleeping bag did its job, and I stayed snug. The next morning dawned clear, and I was able to get this picture in the rich light as the sun rose over Crinkle Crags. I then set off in search of other drawings on Lingmell, Scafell Pike, and Great End; a search only moderately successful: see 80, 128, 149, 361 and 397.
